Dinner and a movie. Meet for drinks. A show and then desert. There are a million permutations on “drinks, dinner and a show” but I still find myself talking to clients every week and hearing “do you have any great date ideas?”
I was talking to a friend last week who shared a great recent date he had where they went “in” for the evening. I don’t know if it was influenced by my Mom and my recent trip to the islands, but our friends decided to stay home on a Saturday night and have a “Hawaiian Night”. He cooked teriyaki steaks on the grill, they both wore flower print shirts and skirts (even the dog put on a Hawaiian shirt), she made some Mai Tais and they streamed Honolulu Classic radio through their stereo.
It may sound a little silly, but both people have reported back that it was one of their most fun dates they had ever had.
This night was great for a couple of reasons. Women love a “man with a plan” and he demonstrated a level of effort greater than just the ability to just pull a restaurant name out of a guide. With her long flowing hair with a delicate flower placed over the ear, her masterful Mai Tais, and her total embrace of the fun of the evening she revealed a lot more during the night than her ability to eat fine food and sit in silence at a play.
So, gentleman, think about a creative way to have a date “in” next week and continue to sweep her off her feet!
